| | The Magnolia is the state flower of both Louisiana and Mississippi. The LSU-Ole Miss rivalry, now dubbed the Magnolia Bowl, is a football rivalry from past times between Louisiana State University and the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). These two schools first clashed 1894. The battle was at its peak in the 50's and 60's, when both schools were top ranked and both claimed a consensus national championship.

| | Now, in recent years, both foortball programs have advanced in national rankings and the old feelings - once only embers - have flared up anew in both Baton Rouge and Oxford. Ole Miss defeated LSU 31-13 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2008 to become the first of the two to win of the newly created trophy. Now it's time for the rematch...
